Technology Lead

As a Technology Lead at Coins, you spearhead the development and scaling of a high-performance exchange platform serving over 18 million users across the Philippines. You bridge technical execution and strategic leadership, designing robust microservices-based Java applications, mentoring developers, and collaborating across international teams to support global expansion. Coins is fully regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and holds both Virtual Currency and Electronic Money Issuer licenses from a central bank.

What you'll do

• Lead the development of the exchange platform, ensuring seamless operations and high performance
• Design, implement, and maintain robust Java-based applications and systems
• Write high-quality, scalable, and efficient code using Java and relevant technologies
• Manage the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production deployment
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and developers, to ensure technical feasibility and adherence to best practices
• Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development, staging, and production environments
• Lead and mentor junior developers, fostering their technical growth and career development
• Conduct regular code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
• Continuously stay updated on emerging technologies and apply industry best practices
• Foster and manage relationships across diverse cultures, supporting the global expansion of Coins
• Ensure all operations comply with local regulations and standards, collaborating with compliance teams to integrate KYC and Fiat transaction processes effectively

What you bring

• Proven experience as a Java developer with a strong foundation in object-oriented programming principles
• Expertise in Spring Boot and Spring Cloud frameworks for building microservices-based applications
• Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and guide a team of developers
• Strong knowledge of databases, including MySQL and NoSQL such as Redis
• Familiarity with middleware such as Kafka and RabbitMQ
• Familiarity with RESTful web services and API design
• Experience with version control systems such as Git
• Strong problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
• Proficient in spoken English
• Extensive experience leading, building, and scaling high-performing tech teams in fast-paced startup environments
• In-depth understanding of security challenges and risks in the crypto industry, with experience implementing best practices for application security and data protection
• Proven ability to conceptualize and execute strategic technology initiatives that align with organizational goals and market demands
• Demonstrated success in delivering innovative solutions in the fintech or crypto space that drive business growth and scalability
• Expertise in designing robust tech solutions that ensure operational efficiency, security, and scalability in distributed systems
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate industry trends, adapt to new technologies, and navigate complex regulatory landscapes
