Associate General Counsel

As an Associate General Counsel at OKX, you support the company's European entities based in Malta while working across all legal coverage areas. You report to the European Associate General Counsel and collaborate with the Global Legal team and business leaders throughout the organization. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in financial services or crypto law who is enthusiastic about the digital asset space and ready to work in a fast-paced, cutting-edge industry.

What you'll do

• Support the business across all legal coverage areas, including complaints and litigation handling, product development, corporate governance, contract negotiation, regulatory matters, compliance legal support, institutional sales and partnerships, and marketing and advertising
• Analyze and advise on the legal risk of new and existing digital assets and manage the legal component of the new asset review process
• Manage civil or regulatory litigation matters and retain and supervise outside counsel as needed
• Manage ongoing license obligations, communicate with regulators, draft and maintain internal policies, and work collaboratively to support the legal function
• Collaborate with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals
• Assist with corporate governance and other corporate matters
• Manage legal requests from all areas of the business and effectively advise on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders

What you bring

• A Doctor of Law (LL.D.) or Master in Advocacy degree and the warrant necessary to practice as an Advocate in Malta
• Residency in Malta
• 5+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in financial services or crypto
• Experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues, or strong interest and knowledge in the field, with a basic understanding of the relevant legal and regulatory landscape (such as MiCA, GDPR, MIFID)
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment
• Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams
• Ability to navigate a rapidly changing legal landscape and deal with legal ambiguity
• Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and collaborate effectively
• A self-starter mentality with quick learning ability, high drive, proactivity, responsiveness and precision
• Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and with a global legal team
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts
