Blockchain Engineer — DevOps & Infrastructure

As a Blockchain Engineer focused on DevOps and Infrastructure at Alastria Blockchain Ecosystem, you operate and evolve the Hyperledger Besu node infrastructure that powers ISBE, Spain's blockchain services infrastructure for regulated European use cases including qualified evidence registration, traceability, digital identity, trust registries, and tokenization. You join a small, agile core team within an ecosystem of 500+ organizations, where you build directly and see the impact of your work without layers of management.

What you'll do

• Operate and evolve the Hyperledger Besu node infrastructure: deployment, monitoring, updates, and scaling.
• Contribute to and execute the decentralized network architecture: node topology, consensus policies (IBFT 2.0 and QBFT), network permission management, and onboarding of nodes operated by third parties.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment of nodes, smart contracts, and services.
• Maintain and expand the observability strategy: logging, metrics, alerts, and dashboards for a distributed multi-operator network.
• Participate in interoperability work with other European networks: EBSI nodes, national networks from other countries, and public networks.
• Handle network incident response, including on-call rotation and escalation.
• Contribute to technical operation documentation so network partners can operate their own nodes autonomously.

What you bring

• 2-4 years of DevOps or SRE experience, with at least one year working on blockchain infrastructure or distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Hyperledger Besu: node deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting. Experience with other Ethereum clients (Geth, Nethermind) is also relevant.
• Mastery of containers and orchestration: Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Knowledge of networking and security in P2P networks: peer management, discovery, firewalls, and TLS between nodes.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar.
• Strong English proficiency, spoken and written.

Nice to have

• Experience operating multi-operator permissioned networks, coordinating external operators rather than just managing your own nodes.
• Knowledge of BFT consensus mechanisms (IBFT 2.0, QBFT).
• Experience with European or sovereign cloud providers, given the digital sovereignty context here.
• Experience with digital identity infrastructure: DID methods or trust registries.
• Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python for operations automation.
