Blockchain Engineer

As a Protocol / Blockchain Engineer at Ekubo, you will design and build the underlying infrastructure of a decentralized protocol. You will work at the protocol level, designing blockchain architecture, execution systems, networking components, consensus-related infrastructure, and high-performance distributed systems. You will collaborate closely with smart contract, infrastructure, and security engineers to build a secure, scalable, and reliable blockchain protocol capable of supporting real-world production workloads.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and improve core blockchain protocol components and distributed systems.
• Develop high-performance blockchain infrastructure with a focus on scalability, reliability, and low latency.
• Work on transaction execution, state management, block production, networking, and protocol-level infrastructure.
• Design and implement peer-to-peer networking and communication between distributed nodes.
• Contribute to consensus, finality, synchronization, and fault-tolerance mechanisms.
• Optimize execution performance, memory usage, storage, networking, and overall system throughput.
• Research and evaluate blockchain architecture, consensus mechanisms, cryptographic primitives, and emerging protocol technologies.
• Build robust testing infrastructure, including unit tests, integration tests, fuzzing, benchmarks, and adversarial testing.
• Analyze protocol performance and identify bottlenecks across execution, storage, networking, and consensus layers.
• Collaborate with Smart Contract, Security, DevOps, and Infrastructure Engineers to integrate protocol components.
• Participate in protocol design reviews and contribute to long-term technical architecture decisions.
• Investigate and resolve complex production and protocol-level issues.
• Maintain clear technical documentation covering protocol architecture, specifications, and implementation details.
• Stay current with developments in Ethereum, EVM, L2s, modular blockchain architecture, consensus, cryptography, and distributed systems.

What you bring

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, with experience working on distributed systems, blockchain protocols, or other high-performance infrastructure.
• Strong proficiency in Rust, Go, or C++, with Rust highly preferred.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and their fundamental design principles.
• Strong understanding of blockchain architecture, including transaction structure.
