Software Engineer (Rust) - High Performance Systems

As a Software Engineer (Rust) at BLoSH, you will develop and optimize performance-critical components of our high-frequency trading infrastructure. You will work closely with software engineers and quantitative analysts to build new functionality and improve existing systems across market data processing, exchange connectivity and order execution. Our trading system processes billions of real-time market updates and executes millions of orders per day across hundreds of markets and multiple cryptocurrency exchanges, all built in Rust and running on AWS.

What you'll do

• Develop high-performance, low-latency software in Rust.
• Build and improve real-time data processing and execution systems.
• Work with concurrency, networking and asynchronous programming.
• Profile, benchmark and optimize system performance.
• Design and implement new system components.

What you bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 2+ years of professional experience, or a Master's degree in a related field.
• Strong experience in a systems language without a garbage collector (Rust, C++ or C), ideally on performance or latency-sensitive software.
• Solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, operating systems and networking.
• A good understanding of CPU internals, including cache hierarchy and branch prediction, and how they affect performance.
• A good understanding of memory allocation and data layout.
• An understanding of assembly and what happens when code compiles.
• Experience with concurrency, asynchronous programming and Linux.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and attention to detail.

Nice to have

• Production Rust experience, including unsafe Rust.
• Knowledge of SIMD, NUMA and compiler optimizations.
• Experience with lock-free data structures, atomics and custom allocators.
• Low-latency networking and Linux tuning, including kernel bypass, CPU pinning, and TCP/UDP/WebSockets.
• Experience with profiling and benchmarking, and with AWS.
• An interest in financial markets.
