As a Senior Blockchain Engineer at Global Settlement, you build and scale the core chain architecture behind institutional settlement infrastructure. You work hands-on on production systems, designing node infrastructure, consensus mechanisms, cross-chain systems, and protocol-level architecture alongside the application team. This is a hands-on engineering role, not research or advisory.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and maintain blockchain node infrastructure and settlement protocol architecture
  • Implement and optimize consensus mechanisms (PoA, PoS, BFT variants) for enterprise-grade performance and deterministic finality
  • Architect cross-chain communication and bridging systems for multi-network interoperability
  • Drive security, scalability, and reliability across all chain-level systems, and identify and mitigate the risks they carry
  • Debug and harden production systems, including consensus edge cases, node performance, and on-chain security
  • Lead technical research on emerging protocols, L1/L2 architectures, and settlement patterns, and translate it into shipped code
  • Collaborate with smart contract, application, and banking-integration teams to deliver integrated settlement solutions
  • Own the RFCs, architecture decision records, and implementation standards engineering builds against, and mentor engineers through code and design review

What you bring

  • 5+ years of software engineering, with 3+ years focused on blockchain development
  • Deep hands-on experience with blockchain node infrastructure, consensus algorithms, and protocol-level system design
  • Strong proficiency in one or more of Rust, Go, Solidity, Java, or Python, and the flexibility to switch stacks as the roadmap moves
  • Production experience with Ethereum, Cosmos, Hyperledger, Canton, or comparable L1/L2 networks, with a track record of shipping production blockchain infrastructure, not just smart contracts
  • Command of cryptographic primitives, key management, and on-chain security practices
  • Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Startup work ethic and heavy use of productivity and coding tools to multiply your own output and the team's; ability to take a three-bullet brief and execute without hand-holding

Nice to have

  • Stablecoin systems, CBDC infrastructure, or RWA tokenization
  • Cross-chain and interoperability protocols
  • Financial services, payments, or regulated settlement background
  • Digital asset compliance and regulatory requirements

What we offer

  • Salary of $120,000 to $240,000 per year
  • In-person role at our office in Miami, Florida; new hires may start remote with the expectation of relocating to Miami within 60 days of start date
  • Approximately 80% of your time spent coding, 10% strategizing and coordinating with team members, and 10% documenting
