Business Development Engineer (Web3 Security)

As a Business Development Engineer at ChainSecurity, you operate at the intersection of technical expertise and strategic dealmaking in Web3 security. You work directly with founders, CTOs, researchers, and institutional players to build trusted partnerships and drive security engagements across the ecosystem. This role combines the technical credibility needed to discuss protocol architecture with the commercial instinct to close complex deals, operating with high autonomy alongside one of the most respected security brands in crypto globally.

What you'll do

• Build, maintain, and grow relationships with top technical founders and engineers across Web3, leading technical-commercial sales processes from first conversation to signed engagement in close collaboration with ChainSecurity's security engineers
• Work closely with engineers and leadership to understand client needs, translate complex technical challenges into clear strategic recommendations, and design tailored security solutions
• Become a trusted security advisor to leading Web3 teams and develop long-term relationships that keep clients connected to the broader ChainSecurity network and ecosystem
• Represent ChainSecurity at conferences and private events globally, translating engineers' expertise and research into market-resonant narratives and content
• Stay ahead of market trends and ecosystem opportunities, maintaining deep understanding of Web3 and contributing actively to ChainSecurity's strategic thinking and commercial direction
• Help improve internal processes, positioning, and operations by combining market awareness, technical understanding, and effective use of AI tools and automation

What you bring

• Deep understanding of the technical and financial mechanisms driving DeFi and Web3
• Wide knowledge of the DeFi market and market forces
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle and ability to relate naturally to technical founders, protocol engineers, and CTOs
• Combination of technical credibility with strong commercial instincts, enjoying relationship building, deal process management, and closing deals
• Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and adapt naturally to different audiences, from engineers to executives
• Entrepreneurial mindset with high ownership and autonomy
• Fluent English and based in Zurich (Switzerland) or willing to relocate
• Ability to manage an international travel schedule

Nice to have

• Background as a technical founder
• 2+ years in Web3 or DeFi in a technical, research, product, protocol, or risk-related role
• 2+ years of cybersecurity experience with strong involvement or interest in Web3 or DeFi
• 2+ years in finance or institutional markets with strong involvement or interest in Web3 or DeFi
• Comfort and enjoyment with public-facing work, both in-person and online, in 1-on-1 or speaking settings
