Circle - Staff Software Engineer

As a Staff Software Engineer at Circle (NYSE: CRCL), you extend Circle's in-house blockchain systems infrastructure to support the tokenization of the world. You design and own scalable microservices responsible for reliable and secure APIs that transfer value and assets across all blockchain protocols as well as traditional banking protocols. You collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to shape Circle features, build publicly accessible APIs for developers, and integrate with leading banks and financial technologies.

What you'll do

• Extend Circle's in-house blockchain systems infrastructure to support tokenization at scale
• Build and own scalable microservices responsible for reliable and secure APIs that transfer value and assets across all blockchain protocols and traditional banking protocols
• Design, test, and shape Circle features in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams
• Develop and document system design procedures, testing procedures, and quality standards
• Troubleshoot program and system malfunctions to restore normal functioning
• Build publicly accessible APIs that make it simple for developers to integrate with complex payment systems
• Integrate Platform Services with leading banks and financial technologies
• Write infrastructure to deliver great payment experiences, including data sources (SQL or NoSQL), messaging systems, and APIs
• Provide technical leadership on architecture and system design
• Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles

What you bring

• 7+ years of professional software development experience in object-oriented languages such as Go or Java
• Computer Science degree or a closely related field (or foreign equivalent)
• Technical leadership of teams larger than 4 on architecture and system design
• Expert-level knowledge in at least one of: API design, payments processing, or blockchains
• Deep understanding and experience with architecture, design, and deployment of production-quality, scalable software
• Deep understanding and experience with Web3, blockchain, and smart contract business logic
• Deep understanding and experience with RESTful API design and development principles
• Deep understanding and experience with cloud services such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure
• Deep understanding and experience with container orchestration systems like Kubernetes, EKS, or ECS
• Deep understanding and experience with SQL databases and schema design
• Deep focus on coding standards and code quality, with a commitment to great test coverage to enable continuous delivery
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with remote teams
• Self-starter with a curious mindset, comfortable moving at a fast pace and improving your work with minimal supervision
