Compensation & Benefits Specialist – Contractor (6 months)

As a Compensation & Benefits Specialist contractor at Ledger, you'll join the Total Rewards team during a high-intensity period of year-end compensation reviews, benchmarking work, and analytical reporting. You'll work closely with the Paris-based Compensation & Benefits Expert and report directly to the Head of Total Rewards, handling execution-focused work that requires genuine C&B grounding and the ability to work independently once context is set.

What you'll do

• Support data preparation and validation for annual merit, performance, and bonus review cycles: build and maintain population files, track timelines, and flag data quality issues early.
• Partner with the C&B Expert on modelling and scenario analysis, including budget impact, distribution curves, and outlier identification, producing clean and auditable outputs.
• Contribute to salary budget modelling and refresh salary structures using latest market data, including updates to merit matrices.
• Coordinate with HRBPs and People Ops on data collection and sign-off workflows to keep compensation cycles on track.
• Execute underlying data pulls, analysis, and cross-checks to populate compensation metrics and summaries for board and executive reporting.
• Produce clean, presentation-ready tables and data panels with accurate footnotes and sourcing for incorporation into slide decks.
• Provide support during bonus plan reviews: prepare and update slide decks, run employee data analyses, refresh payout range modelling, and use AI tools to update bonus plan rules documentation.
• Support operational tasks including Workday data uploads, equity grant list preparation and validation, and patent premium tracking.
• Support ad hoc projects such as job architecture benchmarking analytics and pay equity or equity grant modelling.

What you bring

• 4+ years of Compensation & Benefits or Total Rewards experience; C&B-specific experience is required.
• A degree in a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or equivalent.
• Advanced Excel proficiency: pivot tables, scenario modelling, audit-proof workbooks, and confident handling of large datasets.
• Hands-on experience with Radford or Mercer Comptryx, including understanding of job matching and market data interpretation.
• Fluent English (the working language of the team); French strongly preferred as most day-to-day collaborators are Paris-based.
• The ability to work from a defined brief with minimal hand-holding, asking clarifying questions early without needing ongoing supervision once context is clear.

Nice to have

• Experience using Workday for compensation cycle management.
• Experience working with or supporting stakeholders outside France, whether across European markets or globally.
• Comfort with AI tools such as Claude or Gemini for document drafting and workflow efficiency.
