As a Compliance KYC Manager at Paxos, you lead a team responsible for customer onboarding and ongoing due diligence. You combine deep KYC expertise with hands-on operational leadership, reviewing complex cases, resolving escalations, and coaching sound, risk-based decision-making. You own KYC policies and procedures, drive remediation of control gaps, and partner closely with Product, Engineering, and business teams to improve KYC processes and tools while reporting on operational performance and emerging risks to senior management.

What you'll do

  • Lead day-to-day KYC operations across customer onboarding and ongoing due diligence, managing queues, priorities, quality, and turnaround times.
  • Review complex cases and escalations hands-on, applying risk-based judgment and ensuring decisions are clearly documented.
  • Manage and develop the KYC team through coaching, training, performance feedback, and capacity planning across operational and project commitments.
  • Own and maintain policies, procedures, and operational guidance to reflect applicable requirements and support consistent execution.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, and business teams to resolve challenges, evaluate solutions, and communicate priorities, dependencies, and trade-offs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Paxos' enterprise partners, customers, and their Compliance teams.
  • Identify control gaps and lead remediation, including root cause analysis, corrective action planning, implementation, evidence retention, and validation support.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and regulatory examinations, preparing documentation, explaining processes and controls, and coordinating timely responses.
  • Manage KYC vendor relationships, including service performance, issue escalation, capability assessments, and coordination of enhancements.
  • Drive improvements to KYC tooling and workflows by defining requirements, supporting user acceptance testing, and ensuring successful implementation and team adoption.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and control effectiveness through automation and appropriately governed AI use.
  • Develop and report operational metrics to senior management, highlighting performance trends, quality, backlog aging, remediation progress, emerging risks, and resource needs.
  • Support the Compliance Operations team through occasional weekend duty as business needs require.

What you bring

  • Deep knowledge of US KYC requirements, including customer identification, beneficial ownership, CDD, EDD, customer risk rating, and ongoing due diligence for individual and institutional customers.
  • Experience leading KYC operations and working directly in queues, reviewing complex cases, resolving escalations, and documenting defensible, risk-based decisions.
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing a team, including coaching analysts to exercise sound judgment, setting performance expectations, and allocating capacity across daily operations and projects.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with experience partnering with Product, Engineering, Data, and business teams to develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to juggle competing priorities, communicate trade-offs and capacity constraints clearly, and drive work through completion.
  • Experience maintaining policies, procedures, and supporting documentation, and translating requirements into clear operational guidance.
  • Experience owning remediation of control gaps and audit or regulatory findings, including implementation, evidence retention, and validation support.
  • Experience developing operational metrics and communicating performance, emerging risks, remediation progress, and resource needs to senior management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex requirements clearly to different audiences.
  • A hands-on approach and strong ownership.
  • Familiarity with AI and automation tools, with sound judgment about appropriate use, data protection, and verification of outputs.
