Deputy General Counsel, Head of Americas Legal

As Deputy General Counsel and Head of Americas Legal at OKX, you will play a central role in shaping the company's regulatory and legal strategy across the US and Americas. Based in San Jose, CA, you will serve as a key partner providing day-to-day counsel to senior business leadership, coordinating efforts across Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Finance while staying abreast of regulatory developments in the digital asset space and helping identify growth opportunities.

What you'll do

• Develop and advance a best-in-class regulatory strategy in the US and across the Americas, including building and maintaining strong relationships with regulators
• Engage directly with regulators and business counterparties as a key point of contact for OKX, and interact daily with senior executives
• Identify growth opportunities and strategic initiatives through proactive, timely analysis of US regulatory developments
• Lead and manage attorneys covering various Americas regions to ensure coordinated legal efforts that achieve successful outcomes
• Manage a wide range of legal requests and advise on legal risk with an eye toward achieving the strategic goals of the company's regional business leaders

What you bring

• Strong communication and leadership skills with excellent judgment
• Membership with a US state bar or equivalent
• 12+ years of regulatory experience dealing with financial services laws and regulations in a highly-regulated environment
• Prior experience in-house at a regulated financial firm or in the crypto industry, at a top-tier law firm, and/or at a regulator
• Experience driving projects to completion on expedited timelines
• Ability to make strategic recommendations to senior management and senior legal team members
• Supervisory experience, particularly managing other attorneys
• Enthusiasm for blockchain technology with experience advising on laws and regulations applicable in the crypto context
• Comfort navigating legal ambiguity and advising on cross-jurisdictional legal and regulatory matters
• Experience working independently in fast-paced, growth-stage, multi-cultural environments across global time zones
• Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams
• Superior organizational skills
• Self-starter who can contribute as both an individual and team member with limited reliance on external counsel

Nice to have

• Expertise in US securities laws and regulations
• Prior in-house experience in a financial services or crypto firm
