Most legal & compliance roles in crypto pay between $90k and $285k, with a median of $214k.

As the FIU Lead at BitGo in Singapore, you will build and own the transaction monitoring and blockchain investigations function for BitGo Singapore, our Major Payment Institution licensed entity. Reporting to the APAC Head of Compliance and working closely with the global FIU team, you will conduct first-line review of all transaction monitoring alerts, lead complex blockchain investigations, validate monitoring models, and write the policies and procedures that govern the programme. This is a senior individual contributor role where you will operate with high autonomy as the in-house subject matter expert on transaction monitoring and on-chain analytics in APAC.

What you'll do

  • Review, triage and disposition all transaction monitoring alerts to defined SLAs, document auditable rationales, and escalate suspicious activity to the Compliance Manager for STR consideration
  • Design and implement automation to reduce manual alert handling, such as rules-based auto-closure and enrichment of alerts with on-chain and KYC data, and measure efficiency and quality gains
  • Own alert-handling procedures, QA sampling, SLAs and performance metrics, and provide regular reports to the Head of Compliance
  • Analyse alert volumes, false-positive rates and typologies, and recommend scenario and threshold changes to improve coverage and reduce noise
  • Trace fund flows across chains and protocols, including mixers, bridges, DeFi, privacy-enhancing tools and cross-chain swaps, to identify exposure to sanctioned, illicit, darknet, scam, ransomware and high-risk counterparties
  • Identify emerging typologies and red flags and turn them into monitoring scenarios and staff guidance
  • Produce investigation reports and case files that stand up to internal review and regulatory scrutiny, and support STR drafting and responses to law enforcement and regulatory requests
  • Make expert use of blockchain analytics platforms such as TRM Labs, Chainalysis and Elliptic, and advise on vendor performance and coverage
  • Independently validate transaction monitoring scenarios, risk-scoring and analytics models, including data integrity, coverage, threshold calibration, back-testing and below-the-line testing, and document findings and track remediation
  • Partner with Engineering and Data teams on data quality, lineage and alert-generation logic, and support periodic reviews of the transaction monitoring programme
  • Draft and maintain transaction monitoring, blockchain investigation and escalation policies, SOPs and playbooks aligned with MAS requirements including the Payment Services Act and MAS Notice PS-N02
  • Support MAS inspections, audits and thematic reviews, and track regulatory developments relevant to transaction monitoring, the Travel Rule and digital asset AML/CFT
  • Support the wider APAC Compliance team on projects as needed

What you bring

  • 5 to 7 years' experience in transaction monitoring, AML/CFT or financial crime investigations at a bank, payment institution, crypto or fintech firm, or an advisory/analytics firm
  • Proven hands-on experience with blockchain analytics tools such as TRM Labs, Chainalysis and/or Elliptic and on-chain tracing across multiple chains
  • Solid understanding of digital asset typologies, including mixers, bridges, DeFi, stablecoins, sanctions evasion, scams and ransomware
  • Experience writing or validating transaction monitoring scenarios, models or risk-scoring methodologies, with a good grasp of testing, tuning and documentation standards
  • Working knowledge of Singapore AML/CFT requirements for digital payment token service providers under the Payment Services Act, MAS PS-N02 and MAS guidelines
  • Strong written communication with the ability to explain complex findings to non-specialists and regulators
  • Ability to work independently, stay organised and own outcomes in a lean team and fast-moving environment
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as finance, law, computer science or data analytics

Nice to have

  • Professional certifications such as CAMS, CGSS, CCI, CBE or CFE
  • Experience in a MAS-licensed entity or a regulated custodian, exchange or payments firm
  • Experience with case management or transaction monitoring platforms and with automation or AI-assisted review
  • Experience supporting regulatory examinations or independent audits of a transaction monitoring programme

What we offer

  • Competitive base salary, bonus, and stock options
  • Computer equipment to suit your needs
  • Generous paid time off
