As Head of Design at Mesh, you own the end-to-end experience of a crypto payments platform serving prediction markets, crypto exchanges, and neobanks. You will lead the design team while staying hands-on, shaping how users navigate complex asset swaps, bridging, and payment flows across hundreds of wallets and networks. Your role is to make a fundamentally complicated system feel simple and trustworthy.

What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end Mesh experience across the consumer app and every merchant surface, from first impression through failure states, error recovery, and support handoffs
  • Design the hardest product problems hands-on: deciding which mental model each merchant type gets, what to standardize versus customize, and determining which flows ship versus need another pass (deposits, swaps, bridging, fiat on-ramps, failure recovery). You are the tiebreaker on experience questions and spend roughly half your time in the design work itself
  • Build and lead the design team: manage, coach, and grow the designers on the team today, and hire as the company scales
  • Set the bar for how design works at Mesh in the AI era: decide on tools, workflows, the ratio of prototypes to specs, and evolve the design function ahead of the curve
  • Represent design at the executive table: bring evidence-backed positions to roadmap and customer decisions with the CEO, CTO, and SVP Product

What you bring

  • 8+ years in product design, including 3+ years leading designers while staying hands-on, with shipped consumer products at scale you can show
  • A track record designing for complex systems where users really care when it doesn't work (money movement, health, infrastructure, etc.). Your portfolio holds up under failure, not just on the happy path
  • First-principles thinking: you originate the frame, not just execute it. You can point to products where the conceptual model was yours and explain the alternatives you rejected and why
  • Executive influence: you have changed the direction of a roadmap with a design argument in the room with executives and engineering leaders
  • Aggressive use of AI in your own practice and a rethinking of what design work is still worth doing by hand

Nice to have

  • Payments or fintech experience

What we offer

  • Base salary of $229,000-$300,000 USD, plus equity and benefits
  • Comprehensive health coverage for you and your family
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Dedicated budget for courses, conferences, and certifications
  • Remote-friendly work with top-tier tools and equipment
  • Hybrid arrangement: for employees based in San Francisco, New York, or Bangalore, at least 40% in-office (approximately two days per week), with flexibility based on role and team needs
