Head of UK Legal, Deputy General Counsel

As Deputy General Counsel and Head of Legal, UK at OKX, you lead the UK legal function reporting into the Global Legal team. You work closely with the UK CEO and other key UK stakeholders to provide strategic legal advice on regulatory, commercial and strategic matters. You serve as a member of the UK management team and represent the legal function at relevant Board and committee meetings.

What you'll do

• Support OKX's business expansion into the United Kingdom as the primary legal point of contact for the OKX UK entity, including licensing and legal efforts to expand into the UK market
• Engage with government and regulatory relations, ensuring OKX is a valued contributor to developing legal frameworks in the sector, including representing OKX in relevant industry associations and promoting OKX's viewpoint in consultation efforts
• Support the business across all legal coverage areas, including product development, regulatory matters, IP and trademark enforcement, corporate governance, licensing efforts, token listings for OKX UK, contract negotiation, compliance legal support, institutional sales and partnerships, and marketing and advertising
• Analyze and advise on the legal risk of new and existing digital assets and manage the legal component of the new asset review process
• Collaborate with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals
• Manage legal requests from all areas of the business and advise on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders
• Work from OKX's London office three days a week, with the option to work remotely two days a week

What you bring

• A law degree from a top-tier law school and qualified to practice law in the UK
• 14+ years of legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in the cryptocurrency, digital assets, or financial services industry
• Experience advising on digital asset and blockchain technology legal issues and a basic understanding of the relevant legal and regulatory landscape
• Experience working with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and obtaining UK financial services and/or crypto exchange licenses
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multicultural environment
• Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams
• Ability to navigate a rapidly changing legal landscape and deal with legal ambiguity
• Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and feel comfortable in a collaborative working environment
• A self-starter mindset, quick learner who is highly driven, proactive, responsive and precise
• Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and within a global legal team
