Industry & Product Researcher

As an Industry & Product Researcher at Gate, you track competitors across centralized exchanges, Web3, and crypto payments, build intelligence databases, and translate market innovations into product recommendations. You work for one of the world's oldest and most trusted cryptocurrency exchanges, serving over 53 million users globally, and help shape the next generation of crypto financial infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Continuously track core competitors across CEX, Web3, and crypto payment business lines, monitoring product feature updates, business model changes, and user experience improvements.
• Build and maintain a competitor intelligence database to support ongoing product and market research.
• Conduct hands-on product walkthroughs and user experience testing of competitor products, covering key user flows from a real user perspective.
• Identify competitor innovations in business models, product functionality, and interaction design, such as payment method innovation and on-chain interaction optimization.
• Analyze captured product innovations in depth, assessing their user value, applicability, and potential for adaptation based on the needs of different regions and user segments.
• Translate external product innovation into practical product optimization recommendations for relevant product teams.
• Monitor competitor and industry developments across major global markets, including differences in multi-region and multilingual product experiences.
• Produce monthly and quarterly industry and competitor analysis reports by business line to support product and R&D decision-making.
• Combine industry reports and on-chain data to develop insights into sector trends and help the team build a broader understanding of the market landscape.

What you bring

• 3+ years of experience in product management, industry research, competitor research, or related roles.
• Strong familiarity with the cryptocurrency industry and deep personal usage of on-chain trading or crypto products.
• Familiarity with leading products across major crypto industry segments.
• High sensitivity to industry dynamics and competitor changes, with the ability to proactively and frequently identify and follow up on new competitor moves.
• Strong product sense, with the ability to judge whether a feature or experience represents meaningful innovation and real user value rather than simply listing functionality.
• Strong user empathy and ability to evaluate product experiences from the perspective of real users, including their feelings, pain points, and behaviors in key flows.
• An international perspective, with an understanding of user habits, regulatory environments, and product differences across regional markets.
• Ability to conduct benchmark analysis of competitors in major global markets.
• Excellent structured thinking and written output skills, with the ability to produce reports with clear conclusions, insights, and actionable recommendations rather than screenshot-heavy summaries.
• Good English reading and writing skills, with the ability to efficiently gather and analyze English-language competitor and industry information.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with cryptocurrency exchanges, wallets, Web3 products, or fintech products.
• Experience in research or operations for global or overseas products, with familiarity across multiple regional markets.
• Experience building a competitor intelligence system or competitor database from 0 to 1.
