Lead, Development

As a Lead, Development at Standard Chartered Bank, you drive the end-to-end development of innovative, high-impact projects within the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Centre of Excellence. You bring deep technical expertise in blockchain infrastructure, digital assets, and enterprise-grade integrations, combined with the ability to lead cross-functional teams through the full delivery lifecycle in an agile, regulated environment.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain blockchain protocols, smart contracts, tokenization modules, and consensus algorithms
• Ensure security, integrity, and scalability of blockchain solutions across permissioned frameworks
• Lead hands-on development using Python or Golang and Solidity, designing RESTful APIs and microservice architectures
• Own containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, deploying systems on AWS EKS or Azure AKS with CI/CD pipelines
• Collaborate across platform, security, network, and compliance teams to integrate DLT services into enterprise ecosystems
• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, security, scalability, and adherence to coding standards
• Work with solution architects and security domain experts to design and implement systems compliant with internal controls and frameworks
• Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in blockchain and cryptocurrency
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in blockchain applications and systems
• Coach and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
• Interact with business users, compliance, security, and external partners to align technical goals with business outcomes
• Identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk and compliance matters while promoting a culture of openness and risk awareness

What you bring

• Strong proficiency in backend development using Python or Golang, Solidity, RESTful API design, and microservice architectures
• Hands-on experience with permissioned blockchain frameworks such as Quorum, Hyperledger Besu, Hyperledger Fabric, and Corda, including provisioning, configuration, and orchestration
• Demonstrated understanding of DLT applications such as Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization, Cross-Border Payments, Decentralized Identity (DID), and smart contract-based financial products
• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, with a proven track record deploying systems on AWS EKS or Azure AKS using CI/CD pipelines
• Knowledge of cryptographic primitives including public/private key infrastructure, symmetric/asymmetric encryption, digital signatures, and secure key management
• Proficiency in SDLC practices, Agile delivery, Git-based version control, issue tracking systems, and technical documentation
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams (Dev, DevOps, QA) through the full delivery lifecycle from ideation to implementation
• Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure networking, access controls, high-availability setups, and infrastructure automation
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks around infrastructure hosting and data management for client-facing applications
• Masters or engineering background
