Lead Fullstack Developer

As a Lead Fullstack Developer at Standard Chartered Bank, you will drive end-to-end development of innovative, high-impact projects involving blockchain infrastructure, digital assets, and enterprise-grade integrations within our Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Centre of Excellence. You bring deep technical expertise to deliver products across emerging technologies and regulated environments, working in an agile, collaborative structure with critical peer reviews of design and code.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain blockchain protocols, smart contracts, tokenization modules, and consensus algorithms.
• Design and implement systems with solution architects and security domain experts, ensuring compliance with internal controls, frameworks, and best practices.
• Work hands-on with permissioned blockchain frameworks such as Quorum, Hyperledger Besu, Hyperledger Fabric, and Corda, including provisioning, configuration, and orchestration.
• Develop backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Python, or Golang, alongside Solidity for smart contracts, with RESTful API design and microservice architectures.
• Deploy and orchestrate containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm across AWS EKS or Azure AKS with CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate across platform, security, network, and compliance teams to ensure seamless integration of DLT services into enterprise ecosystems.
• Ensure security, integrity, and scalability of blockchain solutions through code reviews and adherence to coding standards.
• Research, trial, and recommend new technologies of interest to the group.
• Guide code through testing, deployment, and production environments.
• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, security, scalability, and adherence to standards.
• Coach and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Work with cross-functional teams (Dev, DevOps, QA) through the full delivery lifecycle from ideation to implementation.
• Interact with business users, compliance, security, and external partners to align technical goals with business outcomes.
• Navigate ambiguity and deliver creative, robust solutions under tight deadlines and evolving requirements.
• Interpret and align responsible applications under the Group's technology and security framework, identifying key issues and putting in place appropriate controls and measures.
• Identify, escalate, mitigate, and resolve risk, conduct, and compliance matters collaboratively.
• Ensure application design considerations align with the regulatory framework around infrastructure hosting and data management for client-facing applications.

What you bring

• Significant expertise in Core Java and J2EE technologies such as Servlets, JSP, Spring, and Hibernate.
• Strong proficiency with JavaScript frameworks, particularly React.
• Hands-on experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, with a proven track record deploying systems on AWS EKS or Azure AKS using CI/CD pipelines.
• Demonstrated understanding of DLT applications such as Real World Asset (RWA) tokenization, Cross-Border Payments, Decentralized Identity (DID), and smart contract-based financial products.
• Knowledge of cryptographic primitives including public/private key infrastructure, symmetric/asymmetric encryption, digital signatures, and secure key management.
• Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure networking, access controls, high-availability setups, and infrastructure automation.
• Proficiency in SDLC practices, Agile delivery, Git-based version control, issue tracking systems, and technical documentation.
• Masters or Engineering background.
• Ability to work in agile environments with critical peer reviews and offer constructive feedback on others' designs and code.
• Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams through the full delivery lifecycle.
• Clear communication skills to translate complex technical ideas into actionable insights for diverse audiences.
• Strong track record of meeting delivery milestones while upholding code quality and security standards.
