Lead Fullstack Developer

As a Lead Fullstack Developer at Standard Chartered Bank, you will drive end-to-end development of innovative, high-impact projects within our Distributed Ledger Technology Centre of Excellence. You will work on blockchain infrastructure, digital assets, and enterprise-grade integrations across permissioned blockchains and regulated environments, balancing deep technical expertise with delivery across emerging technologies.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain blockchain protocols, smart contracts, tokenization modules, and consensus algorithms
• Design and implement DLT applications including Real World Asset tokenization, Cross-Border Payments, Decentralized Identity, and smart contract-based financial products
• Develop backend services using Python or Golang, write Solidity smart contracts, and design RESTful APIs and microservice architectures
• Deploy systems using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm on AWS EKS or Azure AKS with CI/CD pipelines
• Work with permissioned blockchain frameworks such as Quorum, Hyperledger Besu, Hyperledger Fabric, and Corda, including provisioning, configuration, and orchestration
• Collaborate across platform, security, network, and compliance teams to ensure seamless integration of DLT services into enterprise ecosystems
• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, security, scalability, and adherence to coding standards
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in blockchain applications and systems
• Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in blockchain and cryptocurrency
• Work with solution architects and security domain experts to design and implement systems compliant with internal controls, frameworks, and best practices
• Lead cross-functional teams through the full delivery lifecycle from ideation to implementation
• Coach and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
• Identify and escalate risk and compliance matters while promoting a culture of openness and risk awareness
• Ensure application designs align with regulatory frameworks around infrastructure hosting, data management, and banking compliance requirements

What you bring

• Significant expertise in Core Java and J2EE technologies such as Servlets, JSP, Spring, and Hibernate
• Strong proficiency with Spring Boot, microservices, and React for UI development
• Ability to design and consume RESTful APIs and microservices
• Hands-on experience with permissioned blockchain frameworks including Quorum, Hyperledger Besu, Hyperledger Fabric, and Corda
• Demonstrated understanding of DLT applications such as Real World Asset tokenization, Cross-Border Payments, Decentralized Identity, and smart contract-based financial products
• Proficiency in Python or Golang for backend development and Solidity for smart contracts
• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm, with a proven track record deploying systems on AWS EKS or Azure AKS
• Knowledge of cryptographic primitives including public/private key infrastructure, symmetric/asymmetric encryption, digital signatures, and secure key management
• Familiarity with AWS and/or Azure networking, access controls, high-availability setups, and infrastructure automation
• Proficiency in SDLC practices, Agile delivery, Git-based version control, issue tracking systems, and technical documentation
• Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver robust solutions under tight deadlines and evolving requirements
• Strong communication skills to translate complex technical ideas into actionable insights for diverse audiences
• Masters or Engineering background
