What engineering roles in crypto pay
183 salaries · our own dataMost engineering roles in crypto pay between $146k and $267k, with a median of $205k.
As an R&D Engineer (Blockchain) at an innovative company focused on verifying provenance, traceability, and digital integrity in transactional AI environments, you will research, develop, and implement distributed ledger technology (DLT) and blockchain solutions. You'll drive the transition to Web3, ensuring the provenance, integrity, and traceability of digital assets and metadata.
What you'll do
- Design, prototype, and implement core DLT protocol components including smart contracts, consensus modules, and rollup integration compatible with Web3 applications.
- Define and execute anchoring and notarization mechanisms such as hashing and timestamping, and create verification APIs to evidence provenance and changes in digital assets.
- Develop off-chain infrastructures including provers, verifiers, oracles, and decentralized storage, plus secure bridges to the on-chain layer.
- Research and integrate privacy and scalability techniques relevant to Web3 applications, including zero-knowledge proofs, rollups, and state channels.
- Create testbeds, test suites, and benchmarks for integrity, performance, and security; automate protocol testing and CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with product, legal, and design teams to ensure DLT solutions meet governance and compliance requirements in the Web3 context.
What you bring
- A degree in Computer Science, Cryptography, Telecommunications, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience developing DLT and blockchain infrastructure, including smart contracts and node backend systems.
- Experience with at least two of: Solidity/EVM, Rust (Substrate), Go, or other relevant smart contract frameworks.
- Solid knowledge of applied cryptography, including hashing, signatures, Merkle trees, and integrity proofs.
- Experience implementing anchoring and timestamping solutions and decentralized storage systems such as IPFS or Filecoin.
- Knowledge of smart contract security best practices, audits, and key management.
- Professional English; advanced Spanish is valued (the team is based in Barcelona).
- Location: Barcelona.
Nice to have
- Experience designing on-chain and off-chain governance systems, including verifiable credentials, decentralized identifiers (DID), and verifiable credentials (VC).
- Experience integrating DLT and blockchain with AI systems and model metadata.
- Knowledge of regulations and compliance frameworks related to data integrity and digital evidence, such as GDPR and sector-specific regulations.
What we offer
- A work environment combining AI, governance, and advanced technology.
- Work flexibility and a competitive salary package with the possibility of equity or token allocation (to be discussed during interview).
