Senior Blockchain Engineer / Tech Lead

As a Senior Blockchain Engineer and Tech Lead at PQA Labs, you own backend development, smart contract development, and blockchain infrastructure build-out and operations for QDay, our post-quantum, EVM-compatible base layer designed to carry stablecoin payments from decentralized applications to real-world commerce and AI-agent-driven transactions. You report to the Head of Technology and lead the engineering team across Asia-Pacific.

What you'll do

• Design, build and deploy EVM smart contracts in Solidity, backend services in Python, and cloud infrastructure using AWS, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Develop upgradeable Solidity contracts using proxy patterns; integrate multisig solutions such as Safe and hardware wallets such as Ledger.
• Build scalable APIs, blockchain data pipelines and event-driven services using Kafka, PostgreSQL and Redis.
• Deploy and operate blockchain nodes and RPC services; troubleshoot Linux, networking and service issues.
• Establish security controls across smart contracts, cloud infrastructure (KMS, IAM) and data systems, following Web3 security best practices.
• Hire, mentor and lead the engineering team; run code reviews and drive architecture decisions.
• Communicate complex technical solutions clearly to investors, management and clients; own documentation and risk management.

What you bring

• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development, including 3+ years of blockchain development.
• 3+ years with Solidity on EVM-compatible chains such as Ethereum, Arbitrum and Tron; deep understanding of the EVM.
• Hands-on experience with proxy patterns, multisig, hardware wallets and blockchain node operations.
• Expert-level Python skills; production experience with APIs, PostgreSQL, Redis, distributed and event-driven systems.
• Proficiency with AWS (EC2, RDS, Lambda, KMS), CI/CD, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
• A track record securing Web3 systems and cloud infrastructure.
• Fluent English and Chinese, both spoken and written.

Nice to have

• Stablecoin, DeFi or fintech experience.
• Cross-chain interoperability, zero-knowledge proofs, and rollup or Layer 2 experience on Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon zkEVM, Base or zkSync.
• Agile or Scrum certification; experience leading engineering teams.
• Immediate availability.
