Senior Software Engineer, Payment

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Payments Team at OKX, you'll own the infrastructure connecting millions of users to dozens of payment channels across global markets. The Payments platform is established and in production at scale, moving and safeguarding user assets at institutional scale across time zones and regulatory environments. You'll work on a team that's actively expanding, where your technical decisions visibly shape the roadmap, and you'll build deep expertise in a domain that's genuinely hard to pick up from the outside: how to design for correctness when money is on the line, how to reconcile, how to recover, and how to keep systems observable enough that you find problems before users do.

What you'll do

• Design and build high-scale, 24/7 APIs and distributed payment services across multiple cloud providers, using Java and Spring Boot as the primary stack, with end-to-end ownership from design through production.
• Integrate and scale new payment channels and methods across markets, each with its own technical, operational, and reliability characteristics.
• Build for correctness first: ensure consistency, idempotency, reconciliation, failure recovery, and operational tooling that lets you stand behind every transaction.
• Participate actively in design and code reviews, giving and receiving direct, constructive feedback, and help evolve the standards a growing team builds on.
• Investigate complex distributed-systems challenges and drive them to resolution.
• Work with product, design, and partner teams across regions to turn ambiguous requirements into shipped systems and unblock dependencies before they become delays.
• Mentor engineers and share what you learn; seniority here is measured in leverage, not just output.
• Keep pace with a fast-moving industry and bring good ideas back to the team.

What you bring

• 5+ years of backend software development experience with a proven track record of building and operating high-availability, large-scale applications.
• Strong engineering fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and software design patterns, and the judgment to know when to reach for which.
• Ownership instinct: you take responsibility for outcomes, not just tickets, and move toward broken or unclear situations.
• Ability to drive cross-team collaboration, managing complex dependencies and competing requirements without losing momentum.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort operating with autonomy.
• Strong written and verbal communication; you can explain complex technical trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Genuine interest in crypto or fintech, and in building systems that make money move better.
