Senior / Staff SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test)

Galaxy Digital is hiring Senior and Staff SDETs to embed across product teams and raise the bar for quality engineering. You'll work on systems that move real institutional-grade value across crypto and fiat platforms. This role goes beyond writing tests; you'll shape how your team thinks about quality by designing automation strategies, influencing architecture for testability, and driving reliability across the stack. Depending on your strengths, you'll be placed on one of Galaxy's product teams: Lending, Trading, Operations, Custody, Settlement, Staking, Derivatives, or Retail (mobile apps on Android and iOS).

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain test automation frameworks and suites for APIs, backend services, web and mobile UI (Android/iOS), and blockchain-integrated components.
• Define and drive the quality strategy for your product team including test planning, coverage analysis, risk assessment, and release readiness.
• Partner closely with developers, DevOps, and product managers to shift quality left and influence system design for testability.
• Analyze test results, production incidents, and system behavior to identify patterns and drive systemic improvements.
• Build and maintain CI/CD-integrated test pipelines that give teams fast, reliable feedback.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate test creation, code analysis, and automation workflows.
• Contribute to performance testing, security validation, and observability practices.
• Mentor other engineers on testing practices, code quality, and automation design.
• At Staff level: set technical direction for quality engineering across multiple teams or domains, drive cross-team alignment on testing standards and tooling, identify high-impact quality problems before they become obvious, and act as a trusted technical advisor to engineering leadership.

What you bring

• 8+ years of experience in quality engineering or software development in test, with meaningful ownership of automation strategy and execution.
• Strong programming skills in Python (primary) or similar languages such as JavaScript, Java, or Go.
• Proven experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks such as Pytest, Robot Framework, Selenium, Playwright, or Postman/Newman.
• Deep understanding of API testing, microservices architectures, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Git, GitHub workflows, CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or CircleCI, and issue tracking with JIRA.
• Strong debugging and analytical skills with comfort reading logs, metrics, and traces from tools like Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Experience working in Agile environments with close collaboration across engineering and product.
• Clear, proactive communication; you surface risks, share context, and keep people aligned.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as LLM-based coding assistants, with an eagerness to push those practices further.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, fintech, or digital assets/crypto.
• Familiarity with blockchain APIs, wallets, smart contracts, or on-chain data.
• Experience with Web3 testing tools such as Hardhat, Brownie, or Foundry.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Knowledge of contract testing with Pact, test data management, or service virtualization.
• Performance or security testing experience with tools like Locust, k6, or OWASP.
• Track record of mentoring engineers and raising team capabilities.
• Experience building, testing, or working with AI agents and agentic workflows.
