Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) — AI-Driven Testing

As a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) at TechTiera, you'll join a QA team that rebuilds testing around agentic AI. You work on a regulated digital asset exchange, broker, and custodian serving institutional and professional investors. Your role is not to hand-write boilerplate test scripts-it's to direct AI agents through the mechanical work while you handle what machines can't: deciding what's worth testing, verifying that generated tests can genuinely fail, spotting when a passing suite is lying, and distinguishing product bugs from environment problems and broken tests.

What you'll do

• Author and maintain automated UI and API tests using Playwright and TypeScript, covering the trading, custody, and customer-portal surfaces of the platform.
• Work with agentic AI tools daily for test planning, code generation, failure triage, and code review, and critically verify everything an agent produces before it ships.
• Triage nightly regression and smoke runs to separate genuine product bugs from environment noise and test-side defects, and file clear, well-evidenced bug reports that developers can act on.
• Keep the suite honest by linking failing tests to known bugs, releasing them when fixes land, and preventing silent skips or warnings from hiding real defects.
• Run and maintain test suites in CI using GitHub Actions and help keep the pipelines green, fast, and trustworthy.
• Keep test cases traceable in your test-case-management tooling.
• Occasionally cross the test boundary and fix what you find: work in the same monorepo as the product team to ship small bug fixes and improvements to the application itself through the standard PR and review process.
• Review teammates' test PRs and respond to review findings on your own-including those raised by AI reviewers-with evidence rather than opinion.
• Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, and product owners across a globally distributed team.

What you bring

• 3-6 years of hands-on experience in software testing, QA automation, or software development (flexible for the right candidate).
• Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, or clear evidence you can pick up a language quickly.
• A solid grasp of how web applications and HTTP APIs work: requests and responses, status codes, JSON, and authentication.
• Genuine interest in AI-assisted engineering; comfort making AI tools do real work and scepticism to check the output.
• Excellent written English. In an agentic workflow, writing is the work: prompts, bug reports, test plans, and review comments all succeed or fail on clarity.
• Attention to detail and honest reporting. A failing test explained truthfully is worth more than a green one you cannot defend.
• A Bachelor's degree.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• Experience building or maintaining a shared test framework with fixtures, page objects, helpers, and CI wiring rather than only writing specs inside one.
• Exposure to financial services, trading, or capital markets such as order lifecycles, settlement, and custody concepts.
• Experience with WebSockets and real-time data, SQL or PostgreSQL, or CI pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with digital assets or blockchain.
• Performance or load testing experience with tools such as k6 or JMeter.
