Staff Cloud Architect

As a Staff Cloud Architect at Ripple, you'll own the infrastructure of the Treasury Reconciliation platform, a mission-critical system used by the world's largest financial institutions to close their books and manage financial processes. You'll set the architecture, design, and technical direction for a growing platform processing billions of transactions daily, working with senior infrastructure engineers who handle day-to-day execution while you focus on high-impact architectural decisions and mentorship.

What you'll do

• Set and own infrastructure architecture direction, driving scalability and performance decisions across the platform
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior infrastructure engineers through design reviews, problem-solving, and deepening the team's expertise
• Establish infrastructure standards and patterns to create a high baseline for quality, performance, and system maintainability
• Stay hands-on by prototyping, building critical-path components, and writing foundational code where it matters most
• Make and be accountable for infrastructure tradeoff decisions with long-term cost, scalability, and maintainability implications

What you bring

• A BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years of hands-on experience designing and owning large-scale distributed infrastructure, with 4+ years as a technical lead mentoring engineers
• Deep expertise with AWS and Kubernetes, with a minimum of 5+ years experience with each
• Expertise in Linux and Windows server environments, with strong experience building and maintaining cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure
• Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and ArgoCD, and scripting languages including Bash and Python
• Experience with data infrastructure and processing technologies such as Spark and MSSQL, with a track record building systems powering high-volume transactional workloads
• A demonstrated track record of building infrastructure that scales, stays available, and remains secure using Agile practices
• A collaborative mindset, welcoming constructive feedback and rigorous discussion around architectural ideas

Nice to have

• Experience building high-volume transactional systems in the finance space
• Cybersecurity experience
