What you'll do
- Design, build and ship features across web products, from scoping to production
- Be the main engineering contact for Product and Design on your workstreams
- Build reusable components and content tooling so non-engineers can create and update pages themselves
- Keep sites fast, accessible and SEO/GEO optimised across many languages
- Own hosting and delivery: environments, CDN and caching, security rules, DNS and domains
- Support releases and lead the investigation of production issues
- Review code and raise the bar on quality, testing and documentation
- Work AI-first and help the team get more out of AI coding tools
What you bring
- 5 or more years of professional web development, including senior-level work on high-traffic production sites
- Expert proficiency in TypeScript, React and Next.js
- Hands-on experience with headless CMS platforms: content models and editor workflows that non-engineers can actually use
- Strong expertise in web performance, accessibility and technical SEO, including Core Web Vitals, rendering strategies and structured data
- Comfort with server-side JavaScript and APIs such as REST and GraphQL
- Hands-on experience with Vercel, AWS or Cloudflare for deployments, CDN and caching, firewall rules, DNS, logs and monitoring
- Knowledge of secure web development practices
- Fluency with AI coding tools like Claude Code, with the judgment to know when the output cannot be trusted
- Fluent written and verbal English, strong presentation skills, and a self-driven work style
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
Nice to have
- Experience with monorepos and design systems
- CI/CD and infrastructure as code
- Internationalisation at scale
- Automated and end-to-end testing tools such as Playwright
- Monitoring and analytics tools like Sentry and New Relic
- Background building crypto or fintech products, including Web3 wallet integrations
- Experience working with content in regulated industries
What we offer
- Hybrid work in Tokyo: in the office 3 days a week (5 days a week for the first 2 months)
- Flexible, modern, remote-friendly environment
- Culture of ownership, craftsmanship and learning
