Associate General Counsel

As an Associate General Counsel at OKX, you will report to the team's European Associate General Counsel based in Malta and work closely with the Global Legal team and business leaders throughout the company. You will concentrate on supporting OKX's European entities based in Malta, providing legal advice and guidance across all coverage areas and helping the business achieve its goals in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What you'll do

• Support the business across all legal coverage areas, including complaints and litigation handling, product development, corporate governance, contract negotiation, regulatory matters, compliance legal support, institutional sales and partnerships, and marketing/advertising
• Analyze and advise on the legal risk of new and existing digital assets and manage the legal component of the new asset review process
• Manage civil or regulatory litigation matters and retain and supervise outside counsel as needed
• Manage ongoing license obligations, communicate with regulators, draft and maintain internal policies, and work collaboratively to support the legal function
• Collaborate with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals
• Assist with corporate governance and other corporate matters
• Manage legal requests from all areas of the business and advise on legal concepts and legal risk with an eye towards the strategic goals of business leaders

What you bring

• A Doctor of Law (LL.D.) or Master in Advocacy degree and the warrant necessary to practice as an Advocate pursuant to the laws of Malta
• Residence in Malta
• 5+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in financial services or the crypto industry
• Experience advising on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology legal issues or a strong interest and knowledge in the field
• A basic understanding of, or eager willingness to learn about, the relevant legal and regulatory landscape including MICA, GDPR, and MIFID
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage, and multicultural environment
• Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams
• Ability to navigate a rapidly changing legal landscape and deal with legal ambiguity
• Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team in a collaborative working environment
• Self-starter qualities including being a quick learner, highly driven, proactive, responsive, and precise
• Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and within a global legal team
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts
