Chief Compliance Officer, UK

As Chief Compliance Officer at Robinhood UK, you lead our Risk and Compliance team in the United Kingdom, holding the FCA Senior Management Function SMF16 (Compliance Oversight). You oversee the UK compliance programme, provide independent challenge as the second line of defence, and serve as a primary contact for the FCA and other regulatory authorities. This role is based in our London office, with in-person attendance expected 5 days per week.

What you'll do

• Oversee and maintain the firm's compliance framework in accordance with FCA rules and applicable legislation
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business
• Develop and deliver the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan and ensure timely remediation of identified issues
• Provide practical regulatory advice to senior management on investments, crypto products, business initiatives, and associated regulatory obligations
• Act as a primary contact for the FCA and other relevant regulatory bodies
• Own Consumer Duty oversight
• Oversee financial crime and AML frameworks with the MLRO
• Identify and assess risks with the first line of defence
• Review financial promotions, website content, and marketing communications to ensure compliance with FCA requirements
• Chair the Risk and Compliance Committee
• Provide training, guidance, and independent investigation of compliance matters to support and lead UK Risk and Compliance team members
• Set and promote the firm's core values, risk culture, and risk appetite at Board level

What you bring

• Based in the United Kingdom
• A degree or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of previous regulatory compliance experience within a relevant FCA-regulated firm
• Approval as, or the ability to obtain approval for, the FCA Senior Management Function SMF16
• Strong working knowledge of the FCA Handbook, Consumer Duty, UK Money Laundering Regulations, and SM&CR
• Experience managing FCA Supervisory and Authorisations interactions and regulatory reporting
• Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
• A pragmatic and risk-based approach to compliance
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
• Experience working in an international team environment across large projects with multiple work streams and coordinating cross-functional teams
• Knowledge and demonstrable use of AI
