Compliance & Risk Officer

At ipayBTC, you help establish, implement and oversee the company's compliance and risk management framework, ensuring that products, transactions, customers, employees, technology and business relationships comply with applicable regulations and internal policies. ipayBTC is building a trusted digital financial platform that connects people to Bitcoin, digital assets and everyday financial services.

What you'll do

• Maintain compliance with applicable Nigerian regulatory requirements and develop and implement AML/CFT policies
• Monitor regulatory developments and obligations, coordinate regulatory reporting and examinations, and maintain compliance records and registers
• Oversee customer onboarding and identity verification, establish customer risk classification, and conduct Enhanced Due Diligence for high-risk customers
• Manage PEP and sanctions screening processes and review suspicious customer activity and escalations
• Identify and assess business risks, assist in assessing compliance risks associated with new products, features and third-party providers, and maintain the company risk register
• Monitor financial, operational, regulatory and technology risks, establish risk mitigation plans and control owners, and conduct periodic risk assessments
• Oversee transaction monitoring and fraud escalation, coordinate investigation of suspicious transactions and reporting, and maintain incident and risk registers
• Prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) where applicable, and maintain an internal suspicious activity register with prompt escalation
• Develop compliance policies and standard operating procedures, review internal controls and operational processes, and coordinate internal and external audits
• Ensure staff compliance training and accountability

What you bring

• A Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline
• Up to two years of relevant experience (recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
• A basic understanding of AML/KYC and financial services compliance
• Strong research, writing, documentation and organisational skills
• High integrity, discretion, attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and escalate issues appropriately
• Interest in fintech, Bitcoin, digital assets or payments

What we offer

• Monthly salary of 100,000 - 150,000 Nigerian Naira
