DeFi Treasury / Protocol Economist

As a DeFi Treasury / Protocol Economist at VI Group, you design, analyze, and optimize token economic models and treasury strategies for decentralized finance initiatives. You work remotely, collaborating with product, engineering, and strategy teams to align protocol design with long-term value creation and protocol stability.

What you'll do

• Conduct economic and statistical analysis of protocol performance, including modeling macroeconomic and microeconomic scenarios
• Assess risk for on-chain treasury allocations and develop frameworks for sustainable incentives, liquidity management, and governance mechanisms
• Prepare data-driven reports and recommendations based on quantitative modeling and scenario analysis
• Monitor market trends in DeFi and broader crypto economics, and iterate on economic parameters to support protocol stability and growth

What you bring

• A strong foundation in Economics and Macroeconomics, with the ability to apply economic theory to decentralized finance and token ecosystems
• Proficiency in economic research, including designing studies, collecting data, and synthesizing findings into actionable insights for protocol and treasury design
• Advanced analytical skills and statistics capabilities, including quantitative modeling, scenario analysis, and interpreting on-chain and market data
• Experience or strong interest in DeFi, blockchain, and crypto markets, with familiarity in tokenomics, governance, and liquidity mechanisms
• The ability to communicate complex economic concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders through written reports and presentations

• An annual cash bonus of 15-25% of base tied to treasury risk limits, liquidity health, and documented mechanism outcomes
• Total compensation often sits in the $180,000-$300,000 market band when including bonus and tokens, confirmed in writing with the offer
