Deputy General Counsel/Head of UK Legal

As Deputy General Counsel and Head of Legal, UK, you will lead the UK legal function at OKX, a digital asset exchange trusted by more than 50 million users across 180 countries. You will work closely with the UK CEO and other key stakeholders, report into the Global Legal team, and serve as a member of the UK management team. Your role is to provide strategic legal advice on regulatory, commercial and strategic matters as OKX expands its presence in the United Kingdom.

What you'll do

• Support OKX's business expansion into the United Kingdom as the primary legal point of contact for the OKX UK entity, leading licensing and legal efforts to enter the UK market
• Represent OKX in relevant industry associations and promote OKX's viewpoint in consultation efforts with government and regulatory bodies
• Support the business across all legal coverage areas, including product development, regulatory matters, IP and trademark enforcement, corporate governance, licensing, token listings, contract negotiation, compliance, institutional sales and partnerships, and marketing and advertising
• Analyse and advise on the legal risk of new and existing digital assets and manage the legal component of the new asset review process
• Collaborate with product and business development teams to achieve company-wide projects and goals
• Manage legal requests from all areas of the business and advise on legal concepts and risk with attention to strategic business goals
• Represent the legal function at relevant Board and committee meetings
• Work from OKX's London office three days a week and work remotely two days a week

What you bring

• A law degree from a top-tier law school and qualified to practise law in the UK
• 14+ years of legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in cryptocurrency, digital assets or financial services
• Experience advising on digital asset and blockchain technology legal issues and a basic understanding of the relevant legal and regulatory landscape
• Experience working with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and obtaining UK financial services and/or crypto exchange licenses
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage and multi-cultural environment
• Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams
• Ability to navigate a rapidly-changing legal landscape and deal with legal ambiguity
• Ability to work collaboratively in a high-functioning legal team
• Strong self-starter qualities, with quick learning, high drive, proactivity, responsiveness and precision
• Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and within a global legal team
• Excellent writing and analytical skills
