Head of Design

As Head of Design at Mesh, you own the end-to-end experience of a crypto payments platform serving everyone from prediction markets to crypto exchanges to neobanks. You lead the design function, staying hands-on with the hardest problems while building and growing the team. Your job is to design one system that makes complex crypto payments disappear for the user, then go further with rewards, lending, and more.

What you'll do

• Own the end-to-end Mesh experience across the consumer app and every merchant surface, from first impression through failure states, error recovery, and support handoffs.
• Own design's hardest problems hands-on: defining which mental model each merchant type gets, deciding what to standardize versus customize, and determining when flows ship or need another pass. You are the tiebreaker on experience questions and spend roughly half your time in the design work itself.
• Manage, coach, and grow the designers on the team today, and hire as Mesh scales. You set the bar for design talent and build the team to hold it.
• Reinvent design for the AI era by deciding how design works at Mesh: the tools, workflows, the ratio of prototypes to specs, and evolving the function ahead of the curve.
• Represent design at the executive table, bringing evidence-backed positions to roadmap and customer decisions alongside the CEO, CTO, and SVP Product.

What you bring

• 8+ years in product design, including 3+ years leading designers while staying hands-on. You have shipped consumer products at scale and can show the work.
• A track record designing for complex systems where users really care when it doesn't work: money movement, health, infrastructure, or similar high-stakes domains. Your portfolio holds up under failure, not just on the happy path.
• First-principles thinking: you originate the frame, not just execute it. You can point to products where the conceptual model was yours and explain the alternatives you rejected and why.
• Executive influence: you have changed the direction of a roadmap with a design argument, in rooms with executives and engineering leaders.
• You use AI aggressively in your own practice and are rethinking what design work is still worth doing by hand.
