Head of Finance

As Head of Finance at ether.fi, you run the finance function for one of the largest DeFi protocols on Ethereum. The protocol spans multiple regulated operating companies across Cayman, Brazil, the US, Canada and the UAE, generating real revenue from liquid staking, yield vaults and a neobank product. You own month end, audits, budget, tax, treasury operations, fund NAV, payments and payroll, with a small team you'll build as we grow and direct access to the CFO.

What you'll do

• Run month end across all entities, delivering management accounts within 15 business days and quarterly reporting within 45 days
• Reconcile the balance sheet, including wallets, exchange and custody balances against the ledger
• Own revenue recognition for protocol fees, vault fees, card interchange and treasury income
• Lead statutory audits end to end
• Own the annual budget and monthly budget versus actuals, with every material assumption documented and defensible
• Manage cash forecasting
• Monitor liquidity daily across fiat, stables and crypto, conduct weekly portfolio reviews and rebalance to targets set by the CFO, and move funds for payroll and payments
• Put intercompany agreements and a transfer pricing model in place with your advisers
• Manage tax and regulatory finance filings across Cayman, Brazil, US, Canada and UAE, including economic substance requirements, US information returns and CRA filings
• Run the weekly payment cycle for vendors, payroll and contractors across multiple countries, token vesting and payouts, and expenses
• Track card inventory and costs with Ops
• Own the finance systems (QuickBooks, crypto sub-ledger, AP tool, payroll, cap table) and eliminate manual reconciliations
• Work with Compliance, Ecosystem and Product on fee models and new launches, and support HR with compensation budgets, relocations and payroll

What you bring

• A qualified accountant credential (CA, CPA or ACCA), with Big 4 audit background preferred
• 8+ years post-qualification, with at least 4 of those in-house at a crypto, fintech or asset management business
• A track record running a finance function as controller or head of finance across multiple entities and currencies
• End-to-end audit ownership
• Hands-on experience with intercompany agreements and transfer pricing
• Comfort with crypto, including wallet reconciliations, token accounting, staking rewards and NAV calculation for crypto funds
• An organised, direct approach that flags problems early rather than at month end
• Right to work in Cayman or eligibility for a permit

Nice to have

• CIMA registration and experience with Cayman investment manager entities and fund administrators
• VASP, payments or card program experience, including interchange
• US and Canadian tax expertise
• Multi-country payroll and token compensation
• Experience with QuickBooks Online, crypto sub-ledgers and AP automation
