Lightning Protocol Engineer (Remote)

As a Lightning Protocol Engineer at Lightning Labs, you design and implement core Lightning Network protocols and algorithms. You work on mission-critical peer-to-peer cryptocurrency systems written in Go, collaborate on research and design of future iterations of the Lightning Network, and help create the next generation of smart contract applications on Bitcoin. You bring a strong passion for making Bitcoin cheap, fast, and simple for everyone.

What you'll do

• Design and implement core Lightning Network protocols and algorithms
• Contribute to mission-critical peer-to-peer cryptocurrency daemons written in Go
• Collaborate with the team on research and design of future iterations of the Lightning Network
• Participate in issue triage and code review of open source contributions to Lightning Labs repositories
• Communicate with the wider community and industry about the software and technology

What you bring

• Strong engineering background with solid programming skills
• Experience with Go, or relevant experience in C or C++
• Thorough understanding of distributed systems and peer-to-peer networking principles
• Solid engineering practices including testing methodology and documentation
• Experience with Bitcoin, cryptography, and/or financial software
• Quick learning ability with a focus on implementation
• Eagerness to develop new skills and willingness to take ownership of projects

Nice to have

• Prior contributions to crypto protocols and open source software collaboration
