You work closely with internal teams to strengthen controls, address emerging risks and meet regulatory obligations in the fast-evolving virtual digital asset ecosystem.

What you'll do

  • Lead the review and investigation of transaction monitoring alerts across fiat and virtual digital asset transactions, including complex and high-risk cases, and prepare high-quality Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) with clear, evidence-based narratives.
  • Review transaction monitoring scenarios, thresholds and red flags to improve detection effectiveness and reduce false positives.
  • Identify emerging typologies, unusual transaction patterns and potential misuse of the platform, and translate findings into actionable control improvements.
  • Conduct blockchain investigations using analytics tools to trace fund flows, assess wallet exposure and investigate links to illicit activity, including scams, darknet services, mixers and sanctioned entities.
  • Review virtual asset deposits and relevant wallet exposure alerts, document findings and take appropriate action in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support Travel Rule compliance, including information exchange with counterparty VASPs, and review cases involving unhosted wallets in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of STRs and other applicable regulatory reports in accordance with PMLA, the PML Rules and FIU-IND requirements.
  • Oversee compliance with customer due diligence, beneficial ownership identification, risk categorisation, periodic KYC updates and enhanced due diligence requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance and retrieval of KYC, transaction and investigation records in accordance with applicable record-retention requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory circulars, advisories, notifications and emerging AML/CFT typologies, and assess their impact on existing policies, controls and procedures.
  • Support the Designated Director and Principal Officer in meeting applicable regulatory obligations, including independent AML/CFT audits and remediation of audit observations.
  • Oversee customer screening against applicable sanctions lists, PEP databases, adverse media and other relevant watchlists.
  • Review screening matches, ensure appropriate disposition of potential matches and support timely action on applicable sanctions and freezing requirements.
  • Review high-risk customers and transactions, including complex fund flows, high-value activity and cases requiring enhanced due diligence.
  • Strengthen customer risk assessment and ongoing monitoring processes based on customer profiles, transaction behaviour and emerging risk indicators.
  • Manage responses to requests from law enforcement agencies, FIU-IND and other competent authorities, including information requests, notices and account-related directions.
  • Coordinate the collection, validation and submission of relevant customer, transaction and investigation records within prescribed timelines.
  • Support regulatory inspections, compliance reviews, audits and information requests, ensuring that responses are accurate, complete and appropriately documented.
  • Track regulatory observations and agreed action plans through to closure, working with relevant stakeholders where required.
  • Prepare management updates and periodic compliance reports covering key risks, suspicious activity trends, control effectiveness and regulatory developments.
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide AML/CFT risk assessments and periodic reviews of policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Work with Product, Engineering, Data and Operations teams to strengthen monitoring capabilities, improve investigative workflows and address identified control gaps.
  • Maintain clear investigation records, case documentation and audit trails to support regulatory scrutiny and internal reviews.
  • Guide analysts on case investigations, STR quality, screening decisions and escalation standards, while supporting ongoing training and capability development.

What you bring

  • CAMS certification from ACAMS (mandatory)
  • 5-8 years of overall professional experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on AML/CFT experience in a VDA platform, bank, NBFC, payments company, brokerage or a comparable regulated financial services environment

  • A sound understanding of FATF Recommendations, particularly Recommendations 15 and 16, and their relevance to virtual asset activities
  • Practical experience in transaction monitoring, suspicious transaction investigations and STR preparation and filing
  • Experience handling law enforcement requests, regulatory information requests and time-sensitive compliance matters
  • The ability to analyse transaction data, identify patterns and draw meaningful conclusions using Excel and preferably SQL or similar data analysis tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear investigation reports, regulatory responses and management updates
  • Good judgement, attention to detail and the ability to independently manage complex cases while guiding junior team members

Nice to have

  • Hands-on experience with blockchain analytics tools such as Chainalysis Reactor/KYT, TRM Labs or Elliptic
  • Experience working with transaction monitoring, screening or case management systems, including rule configuration, threshold optimisation and control testing
  • Exposure to Travel Rule implementation and interactions with counterparty VASPs
  • Experience with virtual asset regulatory frameworks outside India, including VARA (Dubai) or CBB (Bahrain)
  • Additional certifications such as CCAS, CFE or ICA qualifications
