Risk Engineer

As a Quantitative Risk Engineer at Catena Investments, you take the technical lead on the institution-grade risk layer behind tokenized renewable energy securities and DeFi products. Working on-site in Amsterdam full-time, you drive the architecture, code quality and reliability of the risk system, shape risk logic and exposure calculations, and design how smart contract, protocol risk and liquidity are measured both traditionally and on-chain.

What you'll do

• Lead the core risk system architecture, including its embedded AI/ML components
• Shape risk logic, evolve exposure calculations, limit frameworks and model assumptions
• Design the integration layer between risk systems and DLT infrastructure, defining how exposure, collateral and limits work on-chain
• Measure smart contract risk, protocol risk and fragmented liquidity alongside traditional risk metrics
• Validate what the system does, not only implement it
• Ensure the risk system operates safely in production, including disciplined changes to live systems
• Document developments and inherit systems you did not build

What you bring

• A career in the financial industry, bank, trading firm or treasury function in a role directly tied to risk, trading or treasury systems
• Fluency in risk concepts: exposure, limits and model risk
• First-hand experience with model validation, cyber security, audit or regulatory review
• Strong engineering fundamentals: clean, tested, production-grade code with proficiency in Python and front-end languages such as Svelte
• Comfort working with systems you did not build and documenting as you go
• A collaborative mindset, able to raise hard calls early and be open to critical feedback

Nice to have

• Comfort with AI/ML components in production
• Experience with DeFi protocols, on-chain risk monitoring or smart contract risk
• Experience with digital asset custody and collateral systems
