Senior Data Scientist, Platform

Data Science is integral to our product and decision making process: you work in partnership with Product, Engineering and Design to influence the roadmap and understand our users. With deep expertise in experimentation, analytics and advanced modeling, you produce insights that directly move the company's bottom line. Coinbase is remote-first but expects you to gather quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called "surges."

What you'll do

• Conduct analysis and deep dives on ambiguous problems for the business, delivering insights and recommendations that guide the team's decision making.
• Build, tune, or measure the performance of online and offline ML models and AI systems used across Coinbase.
• Own a broad scope of data and metrics, from definitions and core logging to presentation of data visualizations.
• Guide code reviews, provide SQL and Python expertise, and create well-maintained ETL jobs.
• Maintain a high bar for statistical rigor on your team by designing, executing, and upleveling experimentation and causal analyses that build confidence with stakeholders.

What you bring

• A BA/BS in a quantitative field such as Math, Stats, Physics, or Computer Science with 5+ years of relevant experience, or a PhD in a quantitative field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience driving impactful data science projects that tackle ambiguous problem spaces.
• Ability to influence external stakeholders by synthesizing data learnings into compelling stories.
• Practical expertise applying complex modeling frameworks to practical business problems.
• Professional experience using SQL and Python.
• Experience working with digital products in an iterative development cycle.
• Demonstration of core cultural values: clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution.
• Ability to use generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready analytical outputs and models.

What we offer

• Annual base salary of $180,370-$212,200 USD, varying by location.
