Senior Software Engineer (Data)

As a Senior Software Engineer on Plume's Cloud Platform team, you'll architect and lead large-scale software initiatives that power our industry-leading platform serving over 60 million locations globally. You'll tackle complex distributed systems challenges daily, making technical decisions that shape the future of connected spaces and influence the engineers around you.

What you'll do

• Architect and lead the end-to-end delivery of large-scale software initiatives across cloud, embedded, front-end web/mobile, data, and product teams
• Set the technical bar by writing clean, well-documented code and elevating quality across the team through thoughtful code reviews and engineering best practices
• Drive solutions to complex scalability, integration, and architectural challenges unique to our platform's massive scale
• Own the full lifecycle of services in a Kubernetes ecosystem from design and deployment to operations and incident response
• Serve as a technical leader and mentor, helping grow the next generation of engineers on the team
• Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities as part of a strong production support culture

What you bring

• A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
• 4+ years of experience writing and shipping production-quality code
• A strong track record of leading complex, cross-functional software projects from conception to delivery
• Deep proficiency in one or more of Java, Scala, Node.js, or Rust
• A solid understanding of cloud-native architectures on AWS or GCP
• A strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design
• Working knowledge of computer networking, operating systems, and databases
• Exceptional communication skills to distill complex technical concepts for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

• Experience with Spark, Akka, or NestJS
