Smart Contract Engineer / Spell Crafting - Dewiz

As a Smart Contract Engineer on the Spell Crafting team at Dewiz, you design, implement, and deploy the smart contracts that directly shape the evolution of the Sky ecosystem (formerly MakerDAO). Dewiz sits at the core of protocol execution, acting as the interface between governance decisions and on-chain implementation. You'll work on infrastructure that secures and moves billions in capital, operating at the core protocol layer rather than on feature work.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and deploy Solidity-based smart contracts powering core protocol functionality
• Build and execute governance "Spells" that modify system parameters and logic
• Collaborate with ecosystem actors in risk, governance, and product to define new mechanisms and contribute to the architecture of lending, collateralization, and stablecoin systems
• Conduct deep audits of smart contracts and protocol changes, identify and mitigate vulnerabilities such as reentrancy and oracle manipulation, and maintain production-grade reliability for contracts managing billions in TVL
• Optimize contract execution paths for efficiency at scale, balancing cost, complexity, and security trade-offs
• Integrate contracts with frontends, off-chain systems, governance tooling, and work with execution pipelines and monitoring infrastructure
• Contribute to broader system design decisions across the Sky ecosystem, ensuring coherence between protocol layers, governance execution, and state transitions
• Stay ahead of emerging standards such as ERCs and account abstraction, and explore new mechanisms for capital efficiency, risk management, and automation

What you bring

• Deep expertise in Solidity and the EVM
• Strong understanding of DeFi primitives including lending, AMMs, collateral systems, and stablecoins
• Proven experience with smart contract security and auditing
• Hands-on experience with gas optimization and performance tuning
• Familiarity with tools such as Foundry, Hardhat, Remix, and Ganache
• Ability to reason about complex financial systems
• Strong ownership and ability to operate in high-autonomy environments
• Experience collaborating across distributed and asynchronous teams
• Experience writing robust unit and integration tests with frameworks like Mocha, Chai, or Foundry equivalents
• Clear communication skills with the ability to articulate technical trade-offs
• Comfort working in a pseudonymous, remote-first environment

Nice to have

• Contributions to open-source DeFi or protocol-level projects
• Experience with multi-chain ecosystems such as Solana and Cosmos
• Exposure to zero-knowledge systems such as ZK-rollups and zk-SNARKs
• Previous experience working within a DAO or decentralized organization
• Familiarity with MakerDAO or Sky architecture including MCD, DSS, and governance flows
