Staff Software Engineer, Frontend/Mobile (Consumer - Agentic Trading)

As a Staff Software Engineer on Coinbase's Consumer Agentic Finance team, you'll lead the frontend for a financial agent that watches users' money and markets, answers portfolio questions, and executes trades on their behalf. You'll set the direction for every interface that brings this agent to users, working across mobile and web.

What you'll do

• Own frontend experiences for the user's agent end to end across mobile and web, including the conversational interface, the trading ideas experience, and entry points that bring users to their agent from across the app
• Build real-time, streaming interfaces for AI-driven advice, one-tap trade approvals, and autonomous execution that keeps the agent's reasoning legible
• Set frontend architecture and technical direction across agentic surfaces (streaming state, real-time market data, and conversational UX), and raise the bar through design reviews, standards, and mentorship
• Shape agent behavior directly through prompt engineering, evals, and conversation analysis
• Partner with design, backend engineering, and your registered investment adviser to take features from concept to launch inside regulatory guardrails

What you bring

• 8+ years of professional engineering experience shipping consumer-facing products at scale
• Expert-level mobile experience in React Native and native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) development, and proficiency in TypeScript and React
• Demonstrated technical leadership of frontend architecture across multiple product areas or a platform, including state management, API integration patterns, and performance work that measurably improved latency or reliability, while guiding other engineers through it
• Experience building with LLMs in production: agentic systems, tool calling, streaming responses, or conversational interfaces
• A proven track record driving projects from zero to production with minimal oversight, owning both product and technical decisions
• An obsession with improving your productivity and code quality by leveraging the latest AI-driven coding best practices

Nice to have

• Experience across both iOS and Android platforms
• Backend experience (Go preferred)
• Familiarity with crypto, trading, or financial products

• Annual base salary of $218,025-$256,500 USD, varying by location
