Staff Software Engineer, Security Platform

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Security Platform team at Coinbase, you architect and develop platform capabilities for security, compliance, and privacy use cases across the organization. You work on critical functional areas including secrets and key management, identity and access management, on-chain security, policy and risk management, and vulnerability management. Your work protects Coinbase and its customers at scale.

What you'll do

• Architect and develop the security platform engineering organization's core platform
• Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
• Build new services to meet critical product and business needs using Golang and Java
• Design scalable systems to solve novel problems with modern cloud technology and industry best practices
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
• Articulate a long-term vision for maintaining and scaling backend systems and the teams running them
• Work with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to turn product and technical vision into a tangible quarterly roadmap
• Write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs, debug complex technical problems, and make systems easier to deploy, own, operate, and diagnose
• Review feature designs within your product area and across the company for cross-cutting projects, owning the security, safety, scale, operational integrity, and architectural clarity of these designs

What you bring

• At least 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• A track record designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services with a service-oriented architecture
• The ability to write high-quality, well-tested code to meet customer needs
• Strong technical skills in system design and coding
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a bias toward open, transparent cultural practices
• The ability to use generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality

What we offer

• Annual base salary of 9,424,500 INR (this is a fixed salary with no range variation)
