Associate General Counsel, Employment Law

As an Associate General Counsel for Employment Law at OKX, you report directly to the Global Head of Employment Legal and support the company's global employment matters. You work closely with other members of the Legal team and business leaders throughout the company, especially our global HR, finance, and compliance departments. Based in our San Jose, California or New York office, you provide strategic legal guidance on international employment issues for a leading crypto exchange and developer of OKX Wallet.

What you'll do

• Manage and handle legal HR, employment, and recruiting matters for the company and its global affiliated entities, with a primary focus on supporting OKX group operations in the US and across the globe.
• Provide daily legal advice and guidance to HR, finance, compliance, and recruiting departments on all employment matters affecting the company.
• Drive strategy and manage employment litigation and arbitration matters, retaining and supervising outside counsel.
• Support HR and compliance by advising on internal investigations and interviewing employees.
• Work with other members of the Legal team and business partners on legal issues touching on employee retention, payroll, executive compensation, benefits, performance management, and immigration and visa issues.
• Build and uplevel employment legal processes and infrastructure, moving the function from ad hoc support toward a structured, best-in-class practice.
• Partner directly with senior regional leadership to operationalize their strategic direction.

What you bring

• An active license to practice law in the US.
• 7+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team working on international employment matters.
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage, and multi-cultural environment.
• Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams.
• Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and feel comfortable in a collaborative working environment.
• Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and within a global legal team.
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical and actionable business advice for non-legal audiences.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating offer letters, employment agreements, incentive plans, and severance agreements.
• An understanding of and enthusiastic belief in the cryptocurrency and digital asset space.
• Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical skills.
