Deputy General Counsel, Employment Law

As Deputy General Counsel for Employment at OKX, you will manage global employment matters and report directly to the Global Head of Employment Legal. You will work closely with the Legal team and business leaders across HR, finance, and compliance departments. This role is based in our San Jose, California or New York office.

What you'll do

• Support the business by managing legal HR, employment, and recruiting matters for OKX and its global affiliated entities, with primary focus on US and global operations.
• Provide daily legal advice and guidance to HR, finance, compliance, and recruiting departments on all employment matters affecting the company.
• Drive strategy and manage employment litigation and arbitration matters, including retaining and supervising outside counsel.
• Support HR and compliance by advising on internal investigations and interviewing employees.
• Work with Legal team members and business partners on employee retention, payroll, executive compensation, benefits, performance management, immigration, and visa issues.
• Build and uplevel employment legal processes and infrastructure, moving the function from ad hoc support toward a structured, best-in-class practice.
• Partner directly with senior regional leadership to operationalize their strategic direction.

What you bring

• Attorney licensed to practice law in the US.
• 9+ years of experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team working on international employment matters.
• Comfort working independently in a fast-paced, growth-stage, multi-cultural environment.
• Ability to effectively advise and build trust with business teams.
• Ability to work in a high-functioning legal team and collaborate effectively.
• Experience working on cross-jurisdictional matters and with a global legal team.
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical and actionable business advice for non-legal audiences.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating offer letters, employment agreements, incentive plans, and severance agreements.
