Fraud Investigator (Crypto)

As Fanvue's first Fraud Investigator with dedicated crypto expertise, you build in-house capability to investigate fraud and financial crime on crypto payment rails. Reporting to the Head of Fraud, you lead investigations into payment fraud, account takeover, and money laundering typologies on crypto on/off-ramps. You combine hands-on casework with process design, training the wider Fraud team on crypto red flags, and setting strategy for how Fanvue prevents and detects crypto-related financial crime as the function matures.

What you'll do

• Lead investigations into potential fraud or financial crime involving crypto rails, including payment fraud, account takeover, and money laundering typologies on crypto on/off-ramps
• Build out crypto-specific fraud investigation capability within the Fraud team: on-chain tracing methods, tooling, and documented processes for crypto-related cases
• Train the wider Fraud team on crypto fraud red flags and typologies so risk indicators get caught earlier in standard triage
• Design how Fanvue prevents and detects crypto-related fraud and financial crime as the function matures
• Work directly with vendors to get the most out of crypto investigation tooling and data
• Support fraud and financial crime investigations where crypto is not involved as part of the wider Fraud team's caseload
• Lead escalations to law enforcement where relevant
• Feed your expertise into loss prevention strategy across Fraud, product, and payments

What you bring

• 3+ years investigating fraud and/or financial crime with specific crypto/blockchain exposure, from an exchange, blockchain analytics firm, bank crypto desk, or law enforcement crypto unit
• Proven track record designing or improving investigation techniques, not just following them
• Familiarity with crypto investigation tooling such as Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or Elliptic, and the ability to extract maximum value from it in a fraud prevention context
• High ownership and comfort being the subject matter expert: you are excited by a large, expanding remit and comfortable breaking new ground without an existing playbook
• Ability to work across functions (Fraud, product, payments) and help others understand crypto risk
