Odos - Backend Engineer

Odos is a smart order routing solution that allows users to trade digital assets across decentralized exchanges. Launched in May 2022, Odos operates on 15 EVM chains and uses a patented algorithm to deliver the best swap rates to retail and institutional traders. As a Backend Engineer at deCircle, you will play a core role in a lean team, building and maintaining API microservices, designing database systems for indexing blockchain data at scale, and collaborating on the design and development of EVM smart contracts where security and efficiency are paramount.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and deploy new features to api.odos.xyz and various internal backend services
• Support the development, auditing, and deployment of new and existing smart contracts for the Odos platform
• Build and update core API microservices to support and maintain new and existing features
• Design and implement database systems for indexing platform and blockchain data efficiently at large scale
• Collaborate with other engineers on the design and development of EVM smart contracts

What you bring

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience
• Proficiency in Python API microservice development, preferably FastAPI
• Experience with dependency management tools such as Poetry
• Familiarity with code style maintenance using tools like Pylint, Mypy, Black, and Isort
• Unit testing experience with Pytest
• SQL relational database development experience, PostgreSQL preferred
• Experience with Redis for cache and volatile data storage
• EVM smart contract development using Solidity
• Experience with libraries for interacting with blockchain data, web3py preferred
• Testing with Foundry or similar blockchain forking frameworks
• Proficiency with GitHub, including planning with issues, working with branches and pull requests, and CI/CD pipeline automation using GitHub Actions
• Comfortable taking ownership of the planning and execution of production releases
• Experience working in high-intensity, fast-moving teams or start-ups
• Creative and analytical problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills to clearly articulate thoughts
• Self-starter who proactively seeks opportunities to contribute and can work independently on deliverables

Nice to have

• Previous experience working in DeFi or other crypto protocols
• Experience with Web3-specific libraries and blockchain data APIs
• Database experience to support other team initiatives
• Experience with API-based payment platforms such as Stripe
• Basic understanding of AWS services and Terraform configurations
• Experience orchestrating application deployment configs via ArgoCD or similar tools
