Social Media & Community Manager

As a Social Media and Community Manager at BTCC, you own the public personality and community presence of one of the cryptocurrency industry's longest-established exchanges, founded in 2011. You'll manage BTCC's social channels and communities across Telegram, Discord and other platforms, helping turn them into destinations that crypto users genuinely want to follow and engage with. You'll work from our London office, collaborating with marketing, product and creative teams to build authentic engagement within the crypto ecosystem.

What you'll do

• Own the day-to-day management and growth of BTCC's social media presence across platforms where crypto audiences are most active.
• Develop and maintain a social media content calendar aligned with BTCC's brand, products, market developments and marketing priorities.
• Create, coordinate and publish engaging content designed to increase reach, engagement, followers and brand relevance.
• Develop a distinctive social presence that feels native to the crypto ecosystem rather than corporate.
• Identify trending conversations, narratives, memes and market developments and determine how BTCC can participate in them authentically.
• React quickly to breaking crypto news, market movements and cultural moments with relevant social content.
• Experiment with new content formats, creative concepts and engagement tactics to understand what resonates with your audience.
• Work with Content and Design teams to develop social-first graphics, videos, memes and creative assets.
• Adapt content for different platforms rather than using identical messaging across every channel.
• Maintain an appropriate balance between educational, promotional, product, reactive and entertaining content.
• Engage directly with users, creators, KOLs, projects and relevant accounts to increase BTCC's visibility within the wider ecosystem.
• Monitor competitor and industry social channels to identify emerging trends and opportunities.
• Own and manage BTCC's communities across Telegram, Discord and other relevant community channels.
• Build an active, engaged and welcoming environment for both new and existing users.
• Maintain a visible day-to-day presence within community channels and actively encourage conversations rather than relying solely on reactive moderation.
• Respond to community questions, comments and direct messages professionally and efficiently.
• Moderate discussions, manage spam and inappropriate behaviour, and maintain community standards.
• Identify recurring user questions, concerns and pain points and coordinate with relevant internal teams to provide accurate responses.
• Monitor community sentiment and escalate emerging issues before they develop into larger reputational or customer concerns.
• Encourage community participation through discussions, polls, AMAs, competitions, community events and other engagement activities.
• Identify highly engaged users and advocates and explore opportunities to develop stronger relationships with them.
• Stay deeply connected to cryptocurrency markets, Web3 culture and conversations shaping the industry.
• Monitor Crypto Twitter/X, Telegram, Discord, Reddit and other relevant channels to understand emerging narratives and community sentiment.
• Identify trending tokens, narratives, memes, creators and market developments relevant to BTCC's audience.
• Translate market and cultural developments into timely social and community content.
• Understand when BTCC should participate in a trend and when a conversation carries unnecessary reputational risk.
• Help ensure BTCC's social voice remains current, credible and recognisable to crypto-native audiences.
• Bring new ideas to the team based on what is happening within the crypto ecosystem rather than waiting for formal campaign briefs.
• Develop social-first content ideas and briefs for designers, video editors and other creative colleagues.
• Write and adapt social copy, community announcements, short-form content and engagement posts.
• Support the creation of memes, short-form video, graphics and reactive content.
• Work with Marketing, Product and Content teams to translate product updates and announcements into content that users actually want to engage with.
• Ensure messaging remains accurate and consistent while adapting tone and presentation for different audiences and platforms.
• Build organic relationships with crypto creators, KOLs, community leaders and relevant industry accounts.
• Identify emerging creators and voices that could be valuable for BTCC to engage with.
• Support influencer, ambassador and KOL initiatives where appropriate.
• Maintain strong relationships with highly engaged community members and selected VIP users.
• Act as a bridge between BTCC and its community, ensuring user feedback and sentiment are communicated internally.
• Monitor social media and community performance including follower growth, reach, engagement, impressions and community activity.
• Analyse which content formats, topics and engagement approaches perform best and use those insights to improve future output.
• Track community growth, participation and sentiment.
• Provide regular reporting on social and community performance.
• Monitor competitor activity and benchmark BTCC's social presence against relevant exchanges and Web3 brands.
• Use data alongside cultural judgement to continuously refine BTCC's social and community strategy.
• Support social and community elements of wider marketing campaigns where appropriate.
• Coordinate community activations, AMAs, competitions, airdrops and product launches.
• Ensure wider campaigns are translated effectively across social and community channels.
• Work with Marketing colleagues responsible for broader campaign planning and execution.

What you bring

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in social media, community management, digital marketing or a related role.
• Strong hands-on experience managing social media accounts and online communities.
• Experience managing Telegram and/or Discord communities is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrable ability to create social content that generates meaningful engagement and audience growth.
• Excellent written communication skills and a strong instinct for digital tone of voice.
• Confidence engaging directly with online audiences rather than relying solely on scheduled content.
• Strong understanding of social media analytics and the ability to use performance data to improve content.
• Genuine crypto-native mindset: you actively follow cryptocurrency markets and industry developments.
• Understanding of the culture and language of Crypto Twitter/X, Telegram and Discord.
• Comfort discussing major crypto concepts without needing them explained to you.
• Understanding of areas such as exchanges, spot and derivatives trading, DeFi, staking, tokenomics, airdrops, NFTs and major blockchain ecosystems.
• Knowledge of the major personalities, projects, communities and narratives influencing the market.
• Understanding of crypto memes, terminology and cultural references and ability to use them appropriately.
• Genuine personal interest in the industry beyond simply having worked for a crypto company.
• Fluent English.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.
• Ability to reliably commute to or relocate to our London office (E1) before starting work.

Nice to have

• Previous experience working for a cryptocurrency exchange, Web3 project or blockchain business.
• Evidence of having significantly grown a social account or online community.
• Strong understanding of X/Twitter as a primary crypto marketing and engagement channel.
• Experience creating memes, short-form video or other social-first creative content.
• Experience with social media scheduling, monitoring and analytics platforms.
• Existing relationships within crypto communities or with creators and KOLs.
• Experience supporting influencer, affiliate or ambassador programmes.
• Familiarity with Reddit and other community-driven platforms.
• Experience handling sensitive community issues or social media incidents in a fast-moving environment.
• Mandarin Chinese language capability for collaboration with BTCC's international teams.

Please note: cryptocurrency is a 24/7 global market. Some flexibility will be required to respond to significant market developments, community issues or time-sensitive social opportunities outside standard UK working hours. You will collaborate regularly with colleagues and stakeholders across international time zones.
